  Why's everybody getting divorced????!

  this is insanity!

  literally four couples that i know closely & personally have told me in the last two weeks that they are divorcing their spouses.

  and there are a couple on here whom i've discovered are separating as well (these two i do not know personally, but i'm a little surprised & saddened regardless).

  let's take my questions one at a time (since you said i had posted too many on my other thread):.

  * can you please explain to me, using only the bible, why anyone should believe that today's governing body of jehovah's witnesses (or the "faithful slave class" of the jehovah's witnesses), is the "sole channel of communication" between god and men?.

  * in addition, can you explain why we should believe that christ's parable of the "faithful and discreet slave" was predicting a "class" of anointed christians who would give orders to all other christians, instead of simply teaching that faithful christians will be rewarded by christ when he returns?.

  To UnDisfellowshipped (Post 2505): Thank you for following up on my initiative in splitting the thread up, which Reniaa herself seconded.
  • If I may paraphrase, you're asking how anyone (me, for one) can keep going to the KH, diligently try to keep up with the reading of JW literature, and do their best to apply what they read and hear there, including discussing and supporting that message.
  • For me, it comes down to the way they've put the package together: the interesting variety of meeting parts and articles regarding the Good Book that I probably would have stopped reading otherwise. They gave me a more useful way to think for myself, and about myself and others, even God, the angels, and concepts that I didn't even think of before. I have become more mature in my ability to think of the consquences of my actions. Choice has become part of my vocabulary, and increasingly evident in my life, if I do say so myself.
  • They have given me access to a modern language translation of the Inspired Scriptures that always draws me back to, despite having literally dozens on my library shelves. I feel more and more comfortable with the New World Translation with References as the years pass.
  • They have given me access to a practical way to understand the prophecies, a more-comprehensive understanding of history: a history that I feel I fit into and can express (at least in part) to others, relationships that I feel I can grow in, a perspective that keeps me going whether humans around me understand me or not.
  • They have given me consistency, which I didn't have access to before. They have given me real dignity and respect and purpose and guidance, even though I was more accustomed to the false versions of these. They have given me the tools to forgive and accept forgiveness. Their imperfection has allowed me to accept and work with by my own and that of others.
  • They have given me the tools to enable me to fill-in what had felt hollow before. A day's text and comments to review each day, to help me work on my personality and help me progress in understanding and actually grow in my relationships with others. I'm more able to endure than before. I'm more able to focus, and switch my focus, than before.
  • They want to accept and present what Jehovah actually is, his values, his loves, his hates, his gifts, his perspective. This obedience and submission is seen even in their times of boldness and in their times of silence. I feel more in place, even though I may not be officially accepted as such.

  questions for reniaa and jw's to think about:.

  1:) can you explain, using only the bible, why we should believe that today's governing body of jehovah's witnesses is the sole channel of communication between god and mankind?.

  2:) can you explain, using only the bible, why we should believe that daniel's prophecy about king nebuchadnezzar's 7 years of insanity has a secondary meaning, and why we should believe that this secondary meaning is pointing toward jesus becoming king in 1914?.

  i mostly try to keep the peace here in my house and dont point out the jw bs as much as i used to.

  but i have a hard time dealing with stupid, lies, or people that harm or put children at risk.

  i found something that encompasses all three elements on my kitchen table.. .

  Theocratic education is definitely "higher in Source" than "Higher Education". You can't get higher for Source than Jehovah, the One whom all must worship (render an account to), even Satan (— Matthew 4: 10). Faith in Jehovah helps one survive despite even long stretches of unemployment. Sometimes the answer to prayers comes via a government pension/ allowance and travel, even in cases of allowed imprisonment such as happened in the Soviet era with the preaching work. In other cases, genuine fellow feeling (such as gift baskets of food left on the doorstep) is inspired by supplication. Some even have had a string of RVs who appreciate their self-sacrificing ministry in support of Jehovah so much that they were offered free board, and sometimes even room. It definitely pays to be wholehearted for Jehovah (Hebrews 11:6), otherwise it's just a waste of time because one cannot serve 2 masters well (— Matthew 6:24). — Spike Tassel.

  this was the same man at different times in his life yet he changed his name because he completely changed his ideals and goals too.

  both were extremely zealous, both thought they were doing gods work, both thought they were working for the greater good.. acts 8:3 (new international version)3but saul began to destroy the church.

  going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.. soul thought gods work was to destroy the christians but paul.... acts 20: 19i served the lord with great humility and with tears, although i was severely tested by the plots of the jews.

  • Ah, you know the correct identity of Grandma, do you?! And, you know she's mortal?! That's more than some would believe. Some still believe that Grandma's "got" an immortal soul, even if she was one of the "20 souls [who] died in the [reported] fire".
  • As to Grandma dying "today"? It's a matter of the limits of your knowledge of science, and its application to Grandma's health. And, it's a matter of how well you can see everything. Perhaps, somethings are harder to read than you think. After all, technology keeps improving the picture, especially as many people bring their personalities and experience to bear regarding Grandma. It's also a matter of how long the day is, perhaps it's many years long, as was the case regarding Adam and Eve. • — Spike Tassel.

  What are the Major Issues with Jehovah's Witnesses?

  it's safe to say that in most instances, it appears that the catalyst for the final move away from jw's, the real start of a road toward a jw exit, is something that affected you personally, whether that was you or a loved one/family member.

  we hit our personal bs level, can't take it anymore,.

  then we start to examine the flaws of jw dogma.. i would suggest that most do not start a jw exit because they examine the dogma on a personal study project and find out that something isn't right.

  The Major Issues with Jehovah's Witnesses are the major issues with Jehovah (whom they witness for). It is the deviation from Jehovah's standards and requirements with the following manifestions. Governments guided by Satan. Violence. Immorality. Spiritism. Social degradation. Ruination of the earth. Sin. These must all be exposed and opposedby means of the holy spirit and its fruitage. — Spike Tassel.
